With over 45 years experience working with families in the turmoil of divorce, Dr. Reay specializes in helping those dealing with Parental Alienation. Starting out as a legal assistant in a family law firm, Dr. Reay first saw the impact of alienation and how it adversely affected the children. Over the years, Dr. Reay has worked as a parenting educator; clinical director of non-profit and for-profit organizations for at-risk youth and severely alienated children and their families; therapist in private practice; scientific researcher, child-custody/access evaluator; and expert witness. Dr. Reay’s book Toxic Divorce: A Workbook for Alienated Parents was honored as a “First- place Winner” in the “Parenting/Family: Divorce” category and honored as a “Finalist” in the “Self-Help: Relationships” category at the 2012 International Book Awards, Los Angeles, California. Her book Toxic Divorce: A Workbook for Alienated Parents” was a first place winner at the 2012 International Book Awards in Los Angeles. Dr. Reay’s work in the field of Parental Alienation has earned her national and international recognition. Dr. Kathleen Reay is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (BCACC #1889) as well as a Diplomate and Fellow of the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress.
Dr. Kathleen Reay is a highly skilled and experienced Certified EMDR provider. With more than three decades of expertise in advanced EMDR therapy, she is able to effectively treat various mental health conditions. Dr. Reay has also dealt extensively with clients who suffer from emotional pain and suffering caused by alienation from their loved ones. With EMDR therapy, she empowers clients to find hope and healing. Dr. Reay offers her clients three options to attend EMDR therapy: 1) weekly or twice-monthly 90 minute in-person or virtual sessions, 2) EMDR in-person or virtual intensives, or 3) EMDR intensive in-person retreats that last 3-5 days, tailored to the needs of each individual client.
Dr. Reay has years of experience consulting with parents and grandparents who may potentially be experiencing the effects of parental alienation, estrangement or some other form of contact refusal. Dr. Reay also helps alienated parents and grandparents deal with all types of issues that may arise throughout the alienation process.
Dr. Reay has tremendous experience consulting with lawyers and attorneys worldwide on various issues relating to parental alienation cases. In recent time, Dr. Reay specifically works with lawyers “behind the scenes” and offers strategic tactics to help win alienation cases.
Dr. Reay offers virtual or in-person 50-minute individual therapy sessions for alienated parents. Under retainer agreement, Dr. Reay works with all members of the family who are undergoing mild parental alienation. In the latter cases, no court order is required; however, in some cases it may end up being necessary.
Dr. Reay is the lead facilitator of the Family Reflections Reunification Program (FRRP). Families from all over the world have participated in the program. The FRRP has a very high success rate in reunifying severely alienated children and their rejected parents at the 4-day retreat. A court order with specific terms and conditions are required for admission into the program.
